More high-rises coming to area

a high-rise zoning change, Clear Lake is finally set to go
vertical.
"We've (already) got one (condominium) developer who owns two
pieces of property in El Lago chomping at the bit," said El Lago
Mayor Brad Emel.

A zoning change in
El Lago could significantly alter the way a stretch of NASA
Parkway is developed.
After more than a year of studying options and holding public
hearings debating high-rise development, El Lago's city council
voted last month in favor of a zoning change that now allows
builders to put up 40 units per acre and 250-foot-tall
buildings. That's about 20 stories.

Garson Silvers, owner of
the El Lago Marina, is hopeful that if Pasadena approves a
proposed high-rise for Clear Lake, El Lago may be more receptive
to his plans to build a luxury high rise within its city limits.
